Thermoformable Acoustical Panel

Thermoformable Acoustical Panel

Thermoforming is a general term that refers to the process of transforming a 2-dimensional sheet into a 3-dimensional shape by using heat and pressure. Thermoforming can be used for shaping and creating this 3-dimensional effect of our Düotex acoustical panel. The main advantage of this technique lies in its extensive field of application. The special properties of the Düotex acoustical panels make it possible to create a wide range of shapes.

Advantages of thermoforming

Thermoforming into 3-dimensional shapes holds many advantages that makes it a favorable option to enhance the acoustical properties of any space. Some of these advantages include:

  • The ability to create several finished parts from the same material

  • Create air-gaps in order to increase the acoustical properties

  • It allows the creation of embossing designs

Our Düotex acoustical panels are made of 100% polyester felt with a high temperature binder system.  It is a durable composite that provides excellent stiffness and shape retention which integrated sound absorbing functionality and does not require secondary acoustic treatments.

Meanwhile, Texel Technical Materials is working together with Blachford Acoustics to develop molded and fabricated products for this growing market. This cooperation will create additional synergies by utilizing the molding and cutting core competencies from the fiber automotive products along with existing molding equipment in North America. The team is confident that this is the beginning of a great success story with endless possibilities to customize products.

Lydall Technical Nonwovens Center of Excellence for Architectural Acoustics

Since 2016, Lydall Technical Nonwovens has established a center of excellence for architectural acoustic products. Texel and its sister company Gutsche, in Germany, collaborated on the product development. Gutsche has a rich experience and a vast technical knowledge in the field of architectural acoustics. They brought to market a line of acoustical panels known as Audiovel. The international collaboration of the two teams will ensure the durability of the acoustic products for architectural acoustic panels.
