Acoustic Comfort: Essential Principles for Architects and Designers

When: Wednesday, June 17 – 12:00 PM
Duration: 1 hour

* THIS SESSION IS OFFERED IN FRENCH

Description of the accredited training

This training, accredited by the OAQ, APDIQ, and AIA, provides a clear and accessible introduction to the fundamental principles of acoustics applied to interior spaces. Participants will learn to understand sound propagation, tonal quality, and the usefulness of the decibel as a unit of measurement. The training also addresses the concept of noise as a nuisance and explains its impact on acoustic comfort. Through the ABCs of sound and concrete examples, the phenomena of echo and reverberation are explained. A clear distinction is made between reverberation time (T60) and the Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC), helping guide effective acoustic treatment of a space.

At the end of the training, participants will develop the necessary reflexes to effectively guide the design of acoustic treatment for a space.
