As part of a major office redesign for an insurance company based in Drummondville, Feltkütur was commissioned to address a central challenge: optimizing acoustic comfort in an open workspace.
Acoustic challenges of modern spaces
The spaces in this environment feature a deliberate architectural expression: exposed concrete ceilings, visible structural elements, extensive glazing, and open-plan work areas. While these characteristics create a bright, contemporary atmosphere, they also introduce significant acoustic challenges related to sound reverberation and propagation.
Custom acoustic solution integrated into the ceiling
In collaboration with the insurance company and the architectural firm, Feltkütur designed a custom suspended architectural system, carefully developed to integrate seamlessly with the ceiling. The concept features a white rail system, visually aligned with the exposed concrete, combined with 12.7 mm Düotex acoustic baffles from the Architectür collection. White Côte-des-Neiges and Blue St-Georges were selected to create a cohesive visual harmony with the space.
The modular design allowed the acoustic panels to be assembled side by side to cover large areas, while adapting to sections with varying dimensions. This tailored approach ensures a precise response to both the acoustic and aesthetic requirements of the environment.
To further optimize sound absorption, Düotex Tahmea wall panels in Blue St-Georges from the Architectür collection were installed on the upper portions of the walls in open areas. In enclosed offices, the panels were positioned at voice height, allowing for rapid capture of reverberation and creating an environment conducive to focus.
This project demonstrates how Feltkütur solutions can transform acoustic constraints into a true design asset, supporting both architectural intent and user well-being.
