Open-Concept Spaces with Better Acoustic

Église Nouvel Horizon

Open-Concept Spaces Reimagined for Enhanced Acoustic Comfort

Église Nouvel Horizon includes two distinct environments that required acoustic intervention: an open-concept gathering space dedicated to community interactions and a more dynamic play area. In the gathering space, noise levels affected speech intelligibility. In the play area, elevated sound levels impacted the overall comfort of the building.

The objective was therefore to improve the acoustic performance of each space without altering their purpose or compromising the aesthetics.

Feltkütur Acoustic Solutions Implemented

In the open-concept gathering space, acoustic ceiling baffles from the Constellation collection – Cassiope model, in the Tan Percé color, were integrated into the ceiling. They effectively capture sound waves and significantly reduce reverberation while adding a contemporary and warm visual signature.
The acoustic treatment in this area is completed using 12.7 mm Düotex acoustic panels mounted on standoffs along the walls. The St-Sébastien grey was selected to ensure seamless integration with the current design. These panels enhance speech clarity by reducing lateral sound reflections, while blending harmoniously with the existing architecture.

In the play area, a targeted acoustic ceiling treatment was implemented using Düotex panels, also in St-Sébastien grey. This intervention helps better control activity-generated noise and reduce sound propagation to other areas of the building.

Concrete Results for Improved Acoustic Comfort

Thanks to this combined approach, Église Nouvel Horizon now benefits from:

  • A significant reduction in reverberation
  • Improved speech intelligibility
  • Better sound control within the play area
  • Enhanced acoustic comfort during peak occupancy
  • Harmonious aesthetic integration across both environments
  • High-performance acoustic solutions manufactured in Canada

The result: two distinct spaces, each acoustically optimized to support both community interaction and dynamic activities within a more comfortable and balanced sound environment.
