Entrance hall project at Notre-Dame de Lac-Etchemin School
An innovative collaboration for an acoustic and aesthetic space
The elementary school, Notre-Dame de Lac-Etchemin, located in the area of Quebec, Canada, recently benefited from an innovative architectural project made possible through a collaborative partnership between Emblm, AŪRA Architecture, and Feltkütur. This project transformed the school's entrance hall with the installation of an acoustic ceiling, made from 12.7 mm Düotex slats in Fermont gray, a solution that is both aesthetic and functional. The initiative aims to improve the acoustic comfort of this key space while enhancing its visual appeal.
USING THE FELTKÜTUR DÜOTEX PANELS
The entrance hall of École Notre-Dame de Lac-Etchemin is a central space where students, teachers, and visitors cross paths daily. Due to its high traffic, reverberating sounds and echoes were particularly problematic. To address this issue, Emblm, AŪRA Architecture, and Feltkütur collaborated to create a durable and elegant acoustic solution. The Düotex slats, designed to absorb sounds and reduce acoustic disturbances, were chosen for their excellent sound insulation properties.
The 12.7 mm Düotex slats, made from recycled fibers, stand out for their ability to capture and attenuate ambient noise, thus reducing echoes in the hall. This improvement contributes to a more peaceful and pleasant environment, conducive to communication and interaction. Moreover, the soft texture and refined finish of these slats add a contemporary aesthetic dimension to the space, in harmony with the school's overall architecture.
AŪRA Architecture played a central role in the project's design. Known for its approach that integrates functionality and design, this architectural firm worked closely with Emblm and Feltkütur to create a custom acoustic solution that meets the specific needs of École Notre-Dame de Lac-Etchemin. Their architectural vision ensured that the acoustic ceiling would not only be high-performing but also perfectly aligned with the institution's visual identity.
This partnership combined expertise in design, acoustic innovation, and architectural excellence. Emblm, specializing in interior design, ensured precise project execution, while Feltkütur, an expert in acoustic solutions, provided the high-quality materials necessary for this installation.
Thanks to this fruitful collaboration, École Notre-Dame de Lac-Etchemin now boasts an entrance hall that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional, offering optimal acoustic comfort. This exemplary project illustrates how innovation and architecture can transform public spaces into welcoming and calming environments, suited to the needs of students, staff, and visitors alike.
